#96 Do Spring Cleaning on the Computer - Done!

9 Down
Only 92 To Go

Today, I spent the entire day cleaning up my computer.
I deleted a a couple of programs that we no longer use,
Cleaned up My Documents and got rid of a bunch of files left over from home schooling,
Cleaned up the Shared Files,
Cleaned up the Desktop,
Cleaned and sorted my Email and Bookmarks,
Ran Scandisk,
Ran Defrag,
Then I bought and downloaded a program called Registry Mechanic. It searches the computer for file fragments that are left over from deleted files and all sorts of little nuisances. I ran it and it found, YIKES, 971 problems! It corrected them and now my computer doesn't give me a nasty error message every time I turn it on, and it seems to start up and run a lot faster. Yeah!

Not a bad days work, but now I reeeally need to stretch.

hi there,

I found your blog on the Triplux site.
I am just starting up on the 101 things project and I am still setting up my new blog for it. i noticed you have a link to click on so your full list can be seen. can you please tell me how you did that as I think it's a fanastic way to 'hide' the list and not have it on constant display in the side bar. Hope you don't mind my asking you this favour.

Thanks. Please leave a response on the lastest entry on my blog.

Hi Jeri,

FINALLY have it up and running. Thanks for all the tips. My knowledge has increased by at least 1000%. My blog dedicated to this project is

www.hundredandonethings.blogspot.com

It's not fully functional yet, but drop by anytime. Have a great week!!

Hi Jeri,

Just to say I couldn't get the bullets to work on my template. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

by Blogger Pilgrimage to Self, at Tue Apr 04, 06:29:00 AM

Hi Pilgrim,
I left a comment on your site about your bullets, but it didn't show up again. Is it because you monitor your comments and they don't show up until you approve them? Or, maybe I'm just clicking on the wrong button.

If you didn't get the comment, I hope you come back to read this so you don't think I ignored you.

In short - I checked your source code and it doesn't look like you did anything wrong. I noticed that you don't have bullets in front of your links either, so it may be because bullets aren't included in the style section of your template. I'm not sure. I've never made changes to the style section so I don't know how to change that. You might try Blogger Help and see if they have tips on the style section. Sorry I'm not more help.

Also, while I was checking out your code, I noticed Cashflow 101. It's expensive, but a lot of fun and a safe way to learn about investing. It's kindof like Monopoly on steroids. My youngest (17 yo) and I play. He always beats me. I guess that's a good thing.

Great list, good luck with your tasks. Feel free to come back and visit anytime. It's nice to meet a fellow 101er.

Jeri

#29 26 Things - Done!

8 Down
93 To Go

Okay, I couldn't stand it. I created my Photosite and I had to put something new in it, so I completed the 26 Things Photography Scavenger Hunt.

It was fun and challenging. It forced me the think outside the box and helped get the creative juices flowing. The longer I thought about each word, the more ideas I came up with. I took pictures of things I wouldn't normally take pictures of. It was a great little exercise.

See it at my PhotoSite.

Nice collection of photos. Some of them were really clever of you. Saturday!! That was a good one. I liked what you did with a lot of the things. I like the apple off centered. I like the glass photo. Good job!

A couple of new things

First of all, Mom put her pictures on PhotoSite.com and I really liked the way it looked, so I checked into it a little closer this weekend. Wow. I like it a lot better than Flickr. Probably the same learning curve, but a better look for your efforts. PhotoSite has more variety, more control, more organizational choices. Another plus with PhotoSite, is that most of my photography projects are for 25 photos and I imagined them in a 5 X 5 layout. I couldn't find that I had a 5 X 5 option in Flickr, or could even choose the layout for that matter. Flickr is great if you want to share your pictures with the world and be a part of a very large photo community, but I just want to share photos with family and friends and I think PhotoSite is better suited for my needs. Thanks Mom.

See my new PhotoSite at http://carpediem.photosite.com. It's pretty weak right now, not very many pictures, but I think you can see the potential. I like that you can create albums then create chapters within the albums. I'm not sure I'll keep it that way but its a nice option to have.

Secondly, I emailed Michael Green at Triplux and asked that my blog be added to his 101 in 1001 list. Yeah!!! I'm on the list. I think the 101 list is a great motivational tool and I've gotten a lot of inspiration from looking at other 101 lists and reading about their progress. I want to help spread the joy, if I can.

See it at http://www.triplux.com/1001/otherlists.asp. Jeri's 101 in 1001 is waaaay at the bottom.

I like that! I have been frustrated by the limited amount of photos that I can put on the Blog and this would allow me to have more of my photos available online. Thanks

Thanks, Neal. It's pretty cool. I really like it.

Checked out your link to Triplux. Via Triplux,or any way they discover your blog, all of our blogs could have some comments from people we don't know couldn't we? Just curious.

by Blogger Unknown, at Sat Mar 18, 09:08:00 AM

I removed your links from my side bar.

by Blogger Jeri, at Sat Mar 18, 11:18:00 AM

Thanks, Otherwise we could moderate the comments on our blog, correct? I dont' have that feature enabled on mine but I think Neal & Barb's does. Is that the type of thing you'd enable it for?

#74 Try Ten Different Coffees - Done!

7 Down
94 To Go

This Cafe Vienna marks the tenth coffee and the seventh task completed.

You can see all ten on My Food and Drinks page.

And you enjoyed every minute of finishing this one I bet. Great coffee that you just HAD to drink to complete your task.

Keep on keepin'on!

Ditto what Dena said. We love those coffees here. Try to have one cup a day of various kinds.

Sounds like you are plugging away at the list like the little engine that could! (I think I can, I think I can!)

Writing with POWER

This is the cover of my screenwriting booklet, Writing with POWER.

I started writing it when Mom and I went to Memphis. It kept me busy during the day while she was in class. I continued working on it when we came home and I finally finished it this morning.

While I was homeschooling the boys, I found a writing curriculum that taught students to TOWER their writing. Think, Outline, Write, Edit, Rewrite. I loved the acronym and adapted it a bit for my screenwriting booklet.

The 38 page booklet is a glorified version of notes taken from my favorite screenwriting, or fiction writing, books and is organized into 4 chapters.

Chapter 1 - Ponder your Story
Chapter 2 - Organize your Story
Chapter 3 - Write your Story
Chapter 4 - Evaluate and Rewrite your Story

Now instead of reaching for 20 screenwriting books, I can reach for this one little booklet. It will continue to be a work in progress. As I learn or remember neat little tricks or techniques, they will be added to the booklet. With my booklet finished, at least the POW stages, I can start working on my screenplays again.

2 Comments:

Cool, glad to see you having results for your efforts.

Now, where can we read this POWER pamphlet?????

That sounds like a neat source for quick reference to a lot of information. I like the cover.
